What Regulations Must Processed Foods Meet Regarding Food Safety?

This content is stipulated in Circular 40/2017/TT-BYT issued by the Ministry of Health on October 23, 2017, which prescribes hygiene and safety standards for food, drinking water, and meal rations for seafarers.

Circular 40 stipulates that processed foods for crew members must ensure the following requirements:

- Comply with general conditions on food safety assurance.

- Still within the expiry date, packaging must not be torn or perforated, products must not be crushed, moldy, or damaged.

- In addition to the conditions stipulated above, Circular 40 also specifies that pre-packaged processed foods must:

- Have a Certificate of acceptance of conformity announcement or a Certificate of compliance with food safety regulations;- Contain all necessary information on the product label;- Be stored in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions written on the product label.
