Official Dispatch 8056/VPCP-KGVX dated December 1, 2022, of the Government Office of Vietnam, announces the National Day holiday schedule from September 1, 2023, to the end of September 4, 2023.
It requires agencies and units to arrange reasonable work shifts to continuously address tasks and ensure good service to organizations and the public.
The Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (Hanoi, Vietnam) is authorized to announce the National Day holiday in 2023.
Authorized by the Prime Minister of Vietnam, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs has issued a notice stating:
Public officials and employees will have a National Day holiday in 2023 from Friday, September 1, 2023, to the end of Monday, September 4, 2023.
This holiday period includes 2 National Day holidays, 1 weekly day off, and 1 compensatory day off according to the provisions of the Labor Code.
The Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (Hanoi, Vietnam) requests agencies and units implementing the 2023 National Day holiday schedule to arrange reasonable work shifts to continuously address tasks and ensure good service to organizations and the public.
Agencies and units that do not have a fixed Saturday and Sunday weekly holiday schedule will base their holiday arrangement on the specific program and plan of the unit.
For employees who are not public officials or public employees, the employer decides on the National Day holiday schedule for 2023.
Employees will be off on Saturday, September 2, 2023, and can choose either Friday, September 1, 2023, or Sunday, September 3, 2023, as an additional day off.
If a weekly day off coincides with a holiday, employees can take a compensatory day off on the next working day according to the provisions of the Labor Code.
The National Day holiday schedule according to Article 112 of the Labor Code is as follows:
Article 112. Holidays
- Employees are entitled to fully paid days off on the following holidays:
a) Gregorian New Year: 1 day (January 1 of the Gregorian calendar);
b) Lunar New Year: 5 days;
c) Victory Day: 1 day (April 30 of the Gregorian calendar);
d) International Labor Day: 1 day (May 1 of the Gregorian calendar);
đ) National Day: 2 days (September 2 of the Gregorian calendar and 1 adjacent day either before or after);
e) Hung Kings' Commemoration Day: 1 day (March 10 of the lunar calendar).
Foreign employees working in Vietnam, in addition to the holidays specified in Clause 1 of this Article, are entitled to 1 traditional New Year's day of their country and 1 National Day of their country.
Annually, based on actual conditions, the Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam shall decide on the specific holidays specified in Points b and dd of Clause 1 of this Article.
- For employees with a 1-day weekly off on Sundays:
Choosing to take Friday, September 1, 2023, will result in a 3-day continuous holiday from Friday, September 1, 2023, to the end of Sunday, September 3, 2023 (consisting of 2 National Day holidays and 1 weekly day off).
Choosing to take Sunday, September 3, 2023: The National Day 2023 holiday will be continuous for 3 days from Saturday, September 2, 2023, to the end of Monday, September 4, 2023 (including 2 National Day holidays and 1 compensatory day).
- For employees with 2 weekly days off (Saturday and Sunday):
Choosing to take Friday, September 1, 2023: The National Day 2023 holiday will be continuous for 4 days from Friday, September 1, 2023, to the end of Monday, September 4, 2023 (including 2 National Day holidays, 1 weekly day off, and 1 compensatory day).
Choosing to take Sunday, September 3, 2023: The National Day 2023 holiday will be from Saturday, September 2, 2023, to the end of Tuesday, September 5, 2023 (including 2 National Day holidays and 2 compensatory days).
