What is KT2?

You hold permanent residence registration in District 12 but currently reside in District 7; when you register for long-term temporary residence in District 7, this registration document is KT2.

When referring to KT2, you can understand this as a case where a citizen has registered permanent residence in one district but has registered long-term temporary residence in another district within the same province/city.

According to the regulations in the Law on Residence and related guiding documents:

- When a citizen registers their temporary residence with the competent state agency, the agency will carry out the procedures for temporary residence registration and issue a temporary residence book;- When registering for temporary residence, citizens must present their ID card or documents certified by the police of the commune, ward, commune-level town where they have registered permanent residence; documents proving ownership or use rights of the house; submit a form for household registration, population changes, the population declaration form; in the case of legal accommodation being a rental house, borrowed house, or staying with someone's house, written consent from the landlord or the person lending the house is required;- The person registering for temporary residence submits the registration dossier at the police office of the commune, ward, commune-level town. Within 3 working days, the head of the police office of the commune, ward, commune-level town must issue a temporary residence book according to the form prescribed by the Ministry of Public Security;- The temporary residence book has a maximum validity of twenty-four months. Therefore, long-term temporary residence registration KT2 is only valid for a maximum of 24 months. In case the temporary residence period has expired and the family or individual continues to temporarily reside, the household representative or individual must go to the police office where the temporary residence book was issued to carry out the procedures for extending the temporary residence; the temporary residence period of each extension must not exceed the remaining validity period of the temporary residence book. In case the temporary residence book has expired and the household or individual continues to temporarily reside there, the household representative or individual must go to the police office where the temporary residence book was issued to carry out the procedures for re-issuing the temporary residence book.
