the Government of Vietnam promulgates Decree 118/2017/ND-CP on regulations of the functions, tasks, powers, and organizational structure of the Vietnam News Agency.
The Vietnam News Agency is an agency under the Government of Vietnam and performs the following functions:
- Executing the state news function in publishing and broadcasting official information and documents of the Communist Party and the State;- Providing information to serve the leadership requirements of the Communist Party and the management of the State;- Collecting and disseminating information through various forms of journalism and multimedia communications to serve the mass media, the public, and other entities both domestically and internationally.
The Vietnam News Agency's Vietnamese abbreviation is TTXVN; its international trade name in English is the Vietnam News Agency, abbreviated as VNA.
The Vietnam News Agency is under the state management of the Ministry of Information and Communications in the fields of press, radio, and television.
