What are the fines for the press agency in Vietnam failing to report periodically?

Below is a key provision in Decree 119/2020/ND-CP of the Government of Vietnam on administrative penalties for violations in press and publication activities, issued on October 07, 2020.

What are the fines for the press agency in Vietnam failing to report periodically?​ (Illustrative image)

Article 21 of Decree 119/2020/ND-CP stipulates the fines for violations of reporting policies in journalism activities, broadcasting services, and general electronic information pages in Vietnam as follows:

- A fine ranging from 3,000,000 VND to 5,000,000 VND for one of the following acts:

  • Failing to inform the competent state authority in writing when changing the location of the representative office, or the head of the representative office of the press agency;
  • Failing to inform the competent state authority in writing about the establishment, suspension, or termination of the representative office of the press agency; failing to inform in writing the competent state authority about the assignment, change, or suspension of activities of resident reporters;
  • Failing to inform the competent state authority in writing when publishing advertising supplements;
  • Reporting or explaining inaccurately, within incorrect content, deadlines, or not accurately as required by the competent state authority;
  • Licensed organizations or enterprises establishing general electronic information pages changing ownership or location without notifying or incompletely notifying the competent state authority in the stipulated time.

- A fine ranging from 5,000,000 VND to 10,000,000 VND for failing to implement periodic reporting policies as per regulations.

- A fine ranging from 10,000,000 VND to 20,000,000 VND for failing to report or explain as required by the competent state authority.
