- Reagents (preservative chemicals) include: Concentrated HNO3 or HNO3 1:1, concentrated H2SO4 or H2SO4 1:1, concentrated HCl or HCl 1:1, NaOH with a concentration from 6 M to 10 M, (CH3COO)2Zn 10%, Na2S2O3 or Na2SO3, deionized distilled water, and other necessary chemicals used for preserving environmental water samples according to TCVN 6663-3: 2016 (ISO 5667-3:2012): Water quality - Sampling - Part 3: Preservation and handling of water samples;

Chemicals used to preserve the samples must meet the purity level for analysis (PA). Distilled water must be deionized pure water, at least type 2 according to TCVN 4851:1989. All reagents must be properly stored. Reagent bottles must be labeled with expiration dates; expired reagents must be disposed of.
