On December 25, 2014, the Government of Vietnam issued Decree 122/2014/ND-CP on the organization and operation of Health Inspection.

Decree 122/2014/ND-CP stipulates that the Ministry of Health Inspectorate shall perform the tasks and powers as prescribed in Article 18 of the Law on Inspection, Article 7 of Decree 86/2011/ND-CP dated September 22, 2011, of the Government of Vietnam detailing and guiding the implementation of a number of articles of the Law on Inspection (hereinafter referred to as Decree No. 86/2011/ND-CP) and the following tasks and powers:
1. Assist the Minister of Health in state management over health inspection work.
2. Lead or participate in the drafting of legal normative documents as assigned by the Minister of Health.
3. Develop an annual health inspection plan for submission to the Minister of Health for approval.
4. Guide the Health Inspectorate of provinces and the bodies assigned to carry out specialized inspection functions under the Ministry of Health in developing annual health inspection plans.
5. Be on duty for citizen reception as prescribed by law.
6. Summarize and report to the Minister of Health, Chief Government Inspector on the results of inspection work; resolve complaints and denunciations; receive citizens; prevent and combat corruption within the management scope of the Ministry of Health as prescribed by law.
7. Conduct scientific research and international cooperation on health inspection work.
8. Perform other tasks and powers as prescribed by law or as assigned by the Minister.
Additionally, the Decree also specifies the agencies that perform the functions of health inspection, including:
State Inspection Agencies:
- Ministry of Health Inspectorate;- Provincial Health Inspectorate.
Agencies assigned to carry out specialized inspection functions:
- General Department of Population and Family Planning; Department of Drug Administration; Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management; Department of Environmental Health Management; Department of Preventive Medicine; and Department of Food Safety (collectively referred to as the General Departments and Departments);- Provincial Departments of Population and Family Planning, Provincial Departments of Food Safety (collectively referred to as the Departments).
