On March 07, 2007, the Ministry of Health of Vietnam issued Circular 05/2007/TT-BYT guiding the conditions and procedures for designating organizations conducting state inspections of the quality, hygiene, and safety of imported food.
What are the changes to which named organizations are required to send reports to the Department of Food Safety and Hygiene in Vietnam? (Illustration)
Under Circular 05/2007/TT-BYT, the named organizations are required to send reports to the Department of Food Safety and Hygiene under the Ministry of Health of Vietnam when there are any of the following changes:
- Changes in the scope of designated inspection or temporary suspension of operations;
- Changes in the workplace, changes in inspection equipment, changes or additions of staff involved in the designated inspection, and changes in the service provider for testing.
- After reviewing the report on these changes, the Department of Food Safety and Hygiene under the Ministry of Health of Vietnam will notify or issue appropriate decisions for the named organization.
Additionally, 6-month reports and annual reports sent to the Department of Food Safety and Hygiene under the Ministry of Health of Vietnam should include the following contents:
- List of inspected food importers;
- Types and volumes of imported food inspected;
- Types and volumes of imported food that do not meet the standards for quality, hygiene, and food safety;
- Status of complaints from enterprises;
- Recommendations and proposals.
