On December 23, 2019, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs issued Circular 21/2019/TT-BLDTBXH which provides for the minimum knowledge volume and competency requirements that learners must achieve upon graduation from intermediate and college levels for majors and occupations in the fields of computer science, information technology, and technical technology in Vietnam.

What are details of major in communications and computer networks at the College Level in Vietnam?​ (Illustrative image)

As stipulated in the regulations issued with Circular 21/2019/TT-BLDTTBXH, the major in communications and computer networks at the College Level involves designing, constructing, operating the entire system and computer networks, managing, monitoring, and coordinating other activities related to computer networks. Concurrently, Communication and Computer Networks also provide learners with advanced skills in application development on machine systems, meeting Level 5 requirements in the Vietnam National Qualifications Framework.

Professionals in the field of Communication and Computer Networks possess theoretical knowledge and practical skills in information technology and in-depth knowledge in the areas of computer networks and communications or advanced technologies such as cloud computing, grid computing, mobile computing, data center construction and operation, information safety, and security. They can work at agencies, businesses providing computer hardware solutions, installation, repair, and maintenance of computer network systems; information technology or non-IT businesses engaged in the analysis, design of network systems, monitoring devices, network system installation; as network system administrators, setting up systems at data centers, Internet Service Providers (ISP) of companies, organizations; exploiting and installing Internet network services, diagnosing, monitoring, and troubleshooting computer network issues, maintaining, upgrading, optimizing network systems, implementing system security, software, devices; network programming, mobile applications, and smart devices, designing and managing websites. They utilize communication knowledge in building communication strategies and plans, conducting social media and social networking communications, integrated marketing communication (IMC), designing and integrating multimedia products into journalism, and constructing an effective multimedia channel.

Minimum knowledge volume: 2200 hours equivalent to 85 credits.
