Most recently, the Drug Administration of Vietnam has sent Official Dispatch No. 22214/QLD-CL dated December 26, 2017, to the Departments of Health nationwide to warn about the appearance of counterfeit Lincomycin 500mg drugs on the market and provide methods to identify counterfeit drugs in Vietnam.

As known, Lincomycin is a type of antibiotic known to have antibacterial effects, primarily inhibiting aerobic Gram-positive bacteria (Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Pneumococcus, Bacillus anthracis, Corynebacterium diphtheriae) and has a broad antibacterial spectrum against anaerobic bacteria.
Lincomycin is used quite commonly and widely sold at pharmacies as well as drugstores nationwide in Vietnam. Recently, there has been a situation of counterfeit Lincomycin antibiotics appearing.
To solve this situation and ensure user safety, the Drug Administration of Vietnam requires Departments to inform business establishments and drug users not to sell or use drugs named Lincomycin Capsules 500mg, Registration No: VD-13960-11, Lot No: 175, Expiry Date: February 06, 2019 on the label falsely identifying the manufacturer as Thanh Hoa Medical Equipment and Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company.
How to differentiate between counterfeit and genuine drugs
