On December 28, 2018, the Ministry of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Vietnam issued Circular No. 50/2018/TT-BLDTBXH regulating the minimum knowledge requirements and competency that learners must achieve upon graduation from intermediate and college levels in the fields of mining engineering and other technical fields.

According to Circular No. 50/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, the college-level petroleum processing equipment operation is a profession that serves the stages of crude oil and natural gas processing, including tasks in operating devices and technologies within plants, processing stations, and complexes dedicated to oil and gas processing, and meets level 5 requirements in the Vietnamese National Qualifications Framework. Furthermore, the intermediate-level petroleum processing equipment operation serves the same stages and tasks but meets level 4 requirements in the same framework.
