Vietnam: What will a graduate in petroleum processing equipment operation do?

On December 28, 2018, the Ministry of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Vietnam issued Circular No. 50/2018/TT-BLDTBXH regulating the minimum knowledge requirements and competency that learners must achieve upon graduation from intermediate and college levels in the fields of mining engineering and other technical fields.

According to Circular No. 50/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, the college-level petroleum processing equipment operation is a profession that serves the stages of crude oil and natural gas processing, including tasks in operating devices and technologies within plants, processing stations, and complexes dedicated to oil and gas processing, and meets level 5 requirements in the Vietnamese National Qualifications Framework. Furthermore, the intermediate-level petroleum processing equipment operation serves the same stages and tasks but meets level 4 requirements in the same framework.

Therefore, after graduation, learners will have the competencies to meet the requirements for job positions in the petroleum processing equipment operation field at both the college and intermediate levels, which include:

  • For the college level: Operating heat equipment; Operating heating furnaces, steam boilers; Operating separation equipment systems; Operating static equipment; Operating rotating equipment systems; Operating reaction equipment systems; Operating auxiliary equipment.
  • For the intermediate level: Operating heat equipment; Operating heating furnaces, steam boilers; Operating separation equipment systems; Operating static equipment; Operating rotating equipment systems; Operating reaction equipment systems; Operating auxiliary equipment.

Additionally, the minimum amount of knowledge and competency requirements that learners must achieve upon graduation in petroleum processing equipment operation at either the college or intermediate level can continue to develop at higher levels.
