Vietnam: What data is included in the database of plant varieties?

According to Article 4 of Circular No. 18/2019/TT-BNNPTNT of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam, the database of plant varieties includes the followings:

- Data on organizations and individuals eligible for production of plant varieties: Name, headquarters address; plant varieties and yield thereof, plant variety level; applicable technical standards and declaration of conformity.

- Data on registered or designated plant variety certification bodies and testing bodies: Name, address, ID number (if any), decision issuing unit, decision number and designated or registered scope of service.

- Data on first-generation plants and first-generation plant gardens: Name of organization or individual; address; detailed information on first-generation plants/first-generation plant gardens included in certificate of first-generation plant/first-generation plant garden.

- Data on plant variety import and export: Names and addresses of importers and exporters; plant variety names, quantities of imported and exported plant varieties.

- Data on technical standards and regulations for plant varieties.

- List of main crops.

- List of plant varieties permitted for sale in Vietnam.

- List of crop genetic resources prohibited from export.

- Data on results of scientific research and technological development for plant varieties.

- List of protected plant varieties.

Circular No. 18/2019/TT-BNNPTNT also stipulates that the database of legislative documents and regulatory documents related to crop production includes:

- Data on legislative documents and regulatory documents on plant varieties.

- Data on legislative documents and regulatory documents on fertilizers.

- Data on legislative documents and regulatory documents on farming.

- Data on legislative documents and regulatory documents on preservation, preliminary treatment and processing.
