This is an important content in Circular 21/2019/TT-BLDTBXH promulgating regulations on the minimum knowledge volume and competency requirements for graduates from the intermediate and college levels in disciplines and professions related to computer, information technology, and technical technology in Vietnam.
Vietnam: What are the requirements for graduates from college-level printing technology? (Illustrative image)
According to the Regulations issued alongside Circular 21/2019/TT-BLDTBXH, graduates from college-level printing technology in Vietnam must meet the following requirements:
1. Knowledge required for graduates from college-level printing technology in Vietnam
- Present basic knowledge of politics, culture, society, law, national defense and security, and physical education as stipulated;
- Present and apply the roles and responsibilities of the printing house in the Publishing Law.
- Understand and apply basic knowledge of physical chemistry to printing specialization (surface wetting, surface tension, emulsification...);
- Understand and apply knowledge of color and image reproduction printing processes (color separation, color mixing, image digitization, halftoning...);
- Present and analyze the printing production technology process (prepress - printing - post-press finishing);
- Describe the structural principles and operation of machines, equipment, and software used in production technology (prepress - printing - finishing);
- Present the components and basic properties of some main raw materials and chemicals used in the printing industry;
- Analyze the standards and evaluation methods, quality control of printed sheets and printed products;
- Analyze some common errors and remedial measures occurring in the printing production process;
- Analyze safety requirements, labor protection, fire prevention and fighting, and environmental protection when working in the printing factory.
2. Skills required for graduates from college-level printing technology in Vietnam
- Use basic information technology as required; apply information technology in some specialized tasks in the industry;
- Use basic foreign language, achieving level 2/6 according to Vietnam's foreign language competence framework; apply the foreign language to some specialized tasks in the industry.
- Be proficient in using multi-communication means (speaking, writing, listening, electronic...) to solve specialized and social fields;
- Read and interpret the content of production orders, product, and production market information;
- Develop and select production plans and equipment to be used;
- Implement production plans, quality control processes, use of materials, and establish appropriate technical parameters in printing production;
- Install, connect, and set up control programs for main machines, equipment, and peripherals used in printing production;
- Operate some main machines, equipment, and peripherals used in printing production;
- Prepare materials (paper, thin films, inks, chemicals...) used in printing production;- Use Indesign software to format text, layout documents, impose pages, and export PDF files;
- Implement the printing plate-making process to create printing plates;
- Implement the printing process to produce printed sheets on common printing machines;
- Implement post-press finishing processes to create products such as publications paper, and film packaging;
- Handle some common errors occurring during the printing production process;
- Implement safety measures and industrial hygiene.
3. Autonomy and responsibility of graduates from college-level printing technology in Vietnam
- Be able to work independently or in groups to solve complex tasks in changing working conditions in printing production;
- Implement the supervision and guidance of others in performing determined tasks, taking personal responsibility and group responsibility;
- Evaluate the quality of work after completion and the results achieved by group members;
- Be proactive, serious, and responsible for one’s work results before the leadership of agencies, organizations, and enterprises.
