Vietnam: What are the procedures for the assessment of artifacts by the National Council for Cultural Heritage?

Recently, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued Circular 13/2010/TT-BVHTTDL regarding the procedures for the recognition of national treasures in Vietnam, including the procedures for the assessment of artifacts and the artifacts' dossiers by the National Council for Cultural Heritage.

Vietnam: What are the procedures for the assessment of artifacts by the National Council for Cultural Heritage? (Illustrative image)

Article 6 of Circular 13/2010/TT-BVHTTDL stipulates the procedures for the assessment of artifacts and the artifacts' dossiers by the National Council for Cultural Heritage in Vietnam as follows:

- Within 10 days from the date of receiving the assessment result from the Artifact Assessment Council, the Director of the Department of Cultural Heritage shall report to the Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism for consideration and decision to send an application for the assessment of artifacts and the artifacts' dossiers to the National Council for Cultural Heritage.

- The application for the assessment by the National Council for Cultural Heritage includes:

- An application form for assessment from the Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism;

- Artifact dossier;

- Assessment document from the museum's scientific council (or other relevant councils to the artifact) and the Artifact Assessment Council's document;'

- Written request from the minister, head of the central authority, central political organization, central socio-political organization, or the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee;

- Assessment document from the Artifact Assessment Council.
