Vietnam: Warning signs must be placed in the paddy rice land to be strictly protected

This is an important content stipulated in Circular 17/2014/TT-BTNMT guiding the determination of boundaries, area, and development of the paddy land database, issued by the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of Vietnam on April 21, 2014.

According to Article 7 of Circular 17/2014/TT-BTNMT on the disclosure of the results of determining the boundaries and area of paddy land in Vietnam:

1. The People's Committee at the commune level is responsible for:

- Organizing the placement of warning signs in the paddy rice land to be strictly protected. Each area of paddy rice land to be strictly protected is to have 01 warning sign.

The design of the warning sign follows the regulations in Appendix No. 04 issued together with this Circular, which includes the following content:

+ Position for installing the warning sign: at the edge of the paddy rice land to be strictly protected, in a location convenient for transportation and easy to observe.

+ Specifications of the warning sign, including durable material; signpost height of 2m; sign dimensions: 1m x 1m, depicting the layout of the area of paddy rice land to be strictly protected, illustrating surrounding irrigation and transportation elements

+ Information requirements on the warning sign, including the location of fields, commune, district; and area of the paddy land.

- Publicly disclosing maps of the boundaries and areas of paddy land/paddy rice land to be protected and the paddy rice land to be strictly protected at the commune-level People's Committee's headquarters throughout the land use planning and plan.

2. The Division of Natural Resources and Environment is responsible for publicly disclosing maps of the boundaries and areas of the locality's paddy land/paddy rice land to be protected and the paddy rice land to be strictly protected at the headquarters.

3. The Department of Natural Resources and Environment is responsible for publicly disclosing the results of determining the boundaries and areas of the locality's paddy land/paddy rice land to be protected and the paddy rice land to be strictly protected on its web portal.
