On July 31, 2017, the Government of Vietnam issued the Decree No. 90/2017/NĐ-CP on penalties for administrative violations against regulations on veterinary medicine.
According to Article 42 of the Decree No. 90/2017/NĐ-CP of Vietnam’s Government, a fine ranging from VND 4,000,000 to VND 6,000,000 shall be imposed for any of the following violations:
- Use veterinary drugs which are not on the List of veterinary drugs permissible for sales in Vietnam or which are not yet approved by competent authorities for preventing or treating animal diseases;
- Use veterinary drugs with unidentified origin or expired ones for preventing or treating animal diseases;
- Use veterinary drug ingredients or drug ingredients for human or drugs for human for preventing or treating animal diseases;
- Make prescriptions with veterinary drugs which are not on the List of veterinary drugs permissible for sales in Vietnam or which are not yet approved by competent authorities or which are on the List of veterinary drugs banned in Vietnam.
Concurrently, a fine ranging from VND 6,000,000 to VND 8,000,000 shall be imposed for any of the following violations:
- Use veterinary drugs on the List of veterinary drugs banned in Vietnam for the purposes of preventing or treating animal diseases;
- Give treatment to animals infected with any of the diseases on the List of animal diseases banned from slaughtering/treatment or animals infected with infectious diseases subject to compulsory slaughter or destruction according to regulations;
- Give treatment to animals in the epidemic zones or at the places where animals infected with infectious diseases are kept inconsistently with guidance by the veterinary authority.
