Below is notable content specified in Circular 53/2012/TT-BGTVT of the Ministry of Transport on planning management, investment in construction of hydroelectric projects, and operation and exploitation of hydroelectric projects to protect the environment in civil aviation activities in Vietnam, issued on December 25, 2012.
Vietnam: To reduce the operating time of aircraft engines to limit noise (Internet image)
Specifically, Article 9 of Circular 53/2012/TT-BGTVT stipulates that every airport operator in Vietnam shall prepare, introduce and apply noise reduction measures to the airport and adjacent areas:
- Encourage to have the aircraft taken off and landed by the orbits which may reduce the noise.
- Reduce the operating time of aircraft engines.
- Designate an aircraft engine testing area where it least affects residents and adjacent areas, and apply noise reduction measures to the testing area.
In addition, Article 10 of Circular 53/2012/TT-BGTVT stipulates that every airport operator in Vietnam shall establish internal traffic routes to shorten the length of moving. Operators of accoutrements and facilities at the airport shall prepare and apply emission reduction measures, including:
- Properly maintain facilities and accoutrements
- Turn off the engine when facilities and equipment are off.
- Operate devices at a proper speed;
- Encourage to use energy-conserving devices and green fuel;
- Plan to replace and remove CFC-based chillers.
Aircraft maintenance workshops shall apply emission reduction measures during process of testing aircraft engines. Emission depletion systems should be applied during the process of testing of aircraft engines.
