Under Article 12 of the Internal Regulations of Military Prisons issued with Circular 132/2012/TT-BQP, the requirements for the visitation of inmates by their relatives in the military prisons in Vietnam are specified as follows:

- Inmates are allowed to meet their relatives once a month (except for cases where they violate the military prison Regulations and are being held in the disciplinary cell), each meeting not exceeding 1 hour; in special cases, the prison supervisor may allow extending the time but not exceeding 3 hours. Inmates who comply well with the military prison regulations, are rewarded, and perform deeds of merit, can meet their relatives one extra time, the time not exceeding 1 hour, or can meet their wife (or husband) in a private room in the visitation house for not more than 24 hours in a month.

- Juvenile inmates are allowed to meet their relatives not more than 3 times a month, each meeting not exceeding 3 hours; if they comply well with the military prison Regulations or in special cases, the time can be extended but not exceeding 24 hours.

- For inmates being prosecuted, investigated, indicted, or tried for other crimes, the visitation of relatives is conducted according to the provisions of the law on temporary detention and custody.

- The prison supervisor organizes for inmates to meet their relatives as regulated on all days of the week, including holidays, weekends, and Tet. Time for visiting in the day: Morning from 7:30 AM to 11:00 AM, afternoon from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. If meeting overnight, from 6:00 PM to 5:00 AM the next day.

Note: Individuals permitted to visit inmates in Vietnam include:

- Those who are the inmates' relatives include paternal grandparents, maternal grandparents; biological parents, parents-in-law (or parents of the spouse); lawful adoptive parents; wife (or husband); biological children; daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, lawful adoptive children; biological siblings; siblings-in-law (of the wife or husband); uncles, aunts, cousins, and nieces and nephews by blood.

- Representatives from agencies, organizations, or other individuals wishing to visit inmates will be considered and decided by the prison supervisor if deemed suitable for the management and education requirements of inmates.
