Vietnam: Things to note when establishing vehicle inspection stations

This is one of the important contents specified in Circular No. 18/2019/TT-BGTVT of the Ministry of Transport of Vietnam providing guidance on implementation of Government’s Decree No.139/2018/ND-CP providing regulatory framework for provision of motor vehicle inspection services.

Specifically, according to Circular No. 18/2019/TT-BGTVT of the Ministry of Transport of Vietnam, the establishment of vehicle inspection stations is prescribed as follows:

- The organization that wishes to establish a vehicle inspection station is required to notify Vietnam Register of the following:

+ Location of the vehicle inspection station to be established;

+ Expected dates of completion of construction works and starting vehicle inspection operations.

- During the construction period, the organization establishing the vehicle inspection station or the vehicle inspection station shall notify Vietnam Register of any changes in the previously notified contents.

- Upon the completion of construction works and installation of technical facilities, the vehicle inspection station shall prepare an application for certificate of eligibility to provide motor vehicle inspection services as prescribed in Article 8 of Decree No. 139/2018/ND-CP of Vietnam’s Government.
