Vietnam: The academic workload for the college-level train operation is 90 credits

This is a notable content of Circular No. 50/2018/TT-BLDTBXH of the Ministry of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Vietnam regulating the minimum knowledge requirements and competency that learners must achieve upon graduation from intermediate and college levels in the fields of mining engineering and other technical fields.

The Credit Requirement for Railway Train Driving Program at Collegiate Level is 90 Credits, Circular 50/2018/TT-BLĐTBXH

According to Circular 50/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, the knowledge volume for the railway train driving program at the collegiate level is 2,500 hours (equivalent to 90 credits). The knowledge includes:

  • Being able to explain the structure and operating principles of the systems and equipment on each type of locomotive;
  • Being able to explain the principles of drawing detailed sketches;
  • Fully analyzing the inspection steps for each type of locomotive in use;
  • Presenting the contents of the Railway Law, the operational processes for diesel locomotive crews, the national technical standards on railway traffic signals, rail operation procedures and shunting work, the national technical standards on railway exploitation, and the relevant circulars and directives for train operations;
  • Analyzing various driving methods and techniques under different conditions;
  • Explaining the methods for calculating and determining the braking capacity of a train, as well as the train's weight;
  • Presenting the maintenance and repair procedures for each type of locomotive;
  • Analyzing the communication methods between the transport operation center and the train drivers;
  • Accurately analyzing the data of the locomotives in use;
  • Analyzing the locomotive maintenance procedures;
  • Presenting basic knowledge of politics, culture, society, law, national defense and security, and physical education as required.
