Vietnam: Students pursuing intermediate-level aviation security control are required to complete 1,530 training hours

This is important content in Circular 56/2018/TT-BLDTBXH stipulating the minimum knowledge and competency requirements for graduates at intermediate and college levels for disciplines and professions related to transport services, environment, and security in Vietnam.

Under Circular 56/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, intermediate-level aviation security control in Vietnam is a discipline or profession that combines measures, human resources, equipment, and devices to prevent, deter, and respond to unlawful interference with civil aviation activities, ensuring the safety of aircraft, passengers, crew, and ground personnel, meeting level 4 requirements in the Vietnamese Qualifications Framework. The minimum knowledge volume is 1,530 hours (equivalent to 58 credits).

Aviation security control is carried out by the aviation security control force which is a specialized force ensuring aviation security that performs advisory, management, and supervision, and directly implements aviation security control and control measures.

Aviation security control is an international profession. Therefore, those working in this profession must not only comply with all the demands and regulations of Vietnamese law but also adhere to the standards and recommended practices of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

Intermediate-level aviation security control personnel work in security screening, control, and mobile security positions. The main jobs of aviation security control are mostly carried out at airports; airports; on aircraft (ground-based); air traffic service facilities; aircraft production, maintenance, and repair facilities; aviation service providers at airports; and cargo and mail handling facilities.

The main tasks of the aviation security control are: inspecting, screening, and supervising aviation security for aircraft, vehicles, people, baggage, cargo, access to and operations within restricted areas as specified; searching aircraft, vehicles, people, baggage, and cargo when there are signs of aviation security threats; eliminating the possibility of illegal transport of dangerous items by air; applying special preventive measures when allowing the transport of dangerous items, potential aviation security threats.

This profession is equipped with and uses weapons, support tools, uniforms, insignia, badges, devices, and vehicles to perform tasks according to legal regulations.
