Vietnam: Structure of the master's degree program and the doctoral program

The Draft Circular specifies the structure of the master's degree program and the doctoral program as follows:

Structure of the Master's Degree Program

- The structure of the master's degree program includes specialized learning content and specialized directions to develop and apply science and technology in the learner's career field.

- Minimum academic content (number of credits) in a research-oriented master's degree program must ensure that the minimum learning content for the major is 12 credits, the content for intensive learning is 12 credits and the thesis is 24 credits.

- Minimum academic content (number of credits) in an application-oriented master's degree program must ensure at least 8 credits of study content for a major, 28 credits of intensive learning content, and 12 credits for project reports or research projects.

Structure of the doctoral training program

- The structure of the doctoral training program includes specialized learning content and an in-depth direction to develop science and technology through scientific reasoning and research in the learner's career field.

- The minimum learning content (number of credits) in the doctoral training program with the minimum volume of the whole program is 90 credits, must ensure that the learning content for the major is 9 credits, intensive course content is 9 credits and thesis is 60 credits. The minimum learning content (number of credits) in the doctoral training program with a minimum volume of 120 credits for the whole program must ensure that the learning content for the major is 21 credits, intensive course content is 21 credits and thesis is 60 credits.

- Dissertation conducted with the input of a master's or bachelor's degree holder must ensure the same quality standards and requirements.
