Vietnam’s new regulations on periodic inspection of tobacco businesses

At the end of 2018, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam issued Circular No. 57/2018/TT-BCT on elaboration of Decrees on tobacco trading.

According to Circular No. 57/2018/TT-BCT of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam, periodic inspection of tobacco businesses is carried out as follows:

- Based on the actual status and requirements regarding the inspection of compliance with the Law on tobacco trading, regulatory authorities shall develop plans for annual inspection.

- A plan for annual inspection must include: Inspection purposes and requirements; inspected entities and inspection scope; contents to be inspected; inspection date and location; funding for covering inspection expenses; inspection teams; organizations assigned to conduct inspection; reporting on inspection results.

- Before each inspection, the inspection agency is required to notify the inspected organization or individual of the inspection plan at least 15 (fifteen) days before the inspection date.
