On April 17, 2014, the Ministry of Justice of Vietnam issued Circular 11/2014/TT-BTP on the assurance of gender equality in legal aid.

Under Circular 11/2014/TT-BTP, the responsibilities of the Department of Justice regarding assurance of gender equality in legal aid in Vietnam are::
- Advise and assist the Provincial People's Committee and the central-affiliated cities to direct, guide, inspect, monitor the implementation, review, summarize, and ensure the necessary conditions for the implementation of this Circular at the local level;
- Assist the People's Committee provinces and municipalities in incorporating gender equality assurance in legal aid into Programs and Work Plans; direct, guide, monitor, and inspect the implementation of gender equality assurance in legal aid at the local level;
- Take the lead and cooperate with the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, police agencies of the provinces and central-affiliated cities, Women's Union, Bar Association, Lawyers Association at the same level, and related agencies and organizations to integrate gender equality in legal aid in accordance with the functions, duties, and powers of their agencies and organizations;
- Direct the State Legal Aid Center to implement measures to ensure gender equality in legal aid and in the construction and development of collaborator teams as prescribed.
