Vietnam: Responsibilities of parents and employers when allowing people under the age of 15 to work

Recently, the Ministry of Labor - War Invalids and Social Affairs of Vietnam has issued the Draft Circular on the employment of people under the age of 15 to work.

The Draft Circular has stipulated responsibilities of employers and parents, guardians, individuals and families receiving respite care when allowing persons under the age of 15 to work. To be specific:

Responsibilities of employers

- Regularly update information about the work, vocational training, health, and needs of people under the age of 15 in the monitoring book. Every 6 months, every year, to notify parents or guardians of the working or vocational training situation of persons under the age of 15 working;

- Create conditions and support people under the age of 15 working at their establishments to participate in courses to raise awareness and skills for self-protection in the working environment;

- Apply information technology in the management, recruitment and employment of people under the age of 15 to work;

- Consolidate reports with the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs where the employer is headquartered every 6 months (before June 15), annually (before December 15) and ad hoc on recruitment and employment of people under the age of 15.

Responsibilities of parents, guardians, individuals and families receiving respite care

- Coordinating with employers and commune-level People's Committees in managing and supporting persons under the age of 15 in the working process, vocational training, cultural studies, health care in accordance with the provisions of this Circular;

- Creating conditions for people under the age of 15 to successfully complete the work under the labor contract with the employer;

- Participating in training courses on using people under the age of 15 to work and knowledge and skills to protect people under the age of 15.
