Vietnam: Requirements for the level of study and zoning of iron reserve level 121 (Illustrative image)

Article 6 Circular 33/2010/TT-BTNMT stipulates the requirements for the level of study and zoning of iron reserve level 121 in Vietnam as follows:

- The level of geological study shall comply with the provisions in Clause 1, Article 5 of this Circular.

- The zoning of limit to calculate reserve shall comply with the provisions in Clause 2, Article 5 of this Circular.

- The level of study of investment in mine construction:

+ An investment report for the construction of mining works has been prepared or temporary criteria for calculating reserves have been recognized by the Mineral Reserves Evaluation Council;

+ Preliminary selection of appropriate technical and technological solutions for the mining and processing of iron ore has been made;

+ The reserve area is not located in prohibited or temporarily prohibited mining activity areas; a preliminary evaluation of the impact of mining and processing iron ore within the reserve boundaries on the surrounding ecological environment has been conducted and solutions to mitigate the impact of mining and processing iron ore on the environment have been selected;

+ A preliminary plan for environmental rehabilitation after mine closure has been established;

- Degree of economic efficiency: The investment report for the construction of mining works has demonstrated or compared with currently operating mines with similar geological conditions proving that the mining and processing of iron ore at the mine is economically efficient at the time of evaluation.
