Vietnam: Required skills for graduates of Mechanical equipment assembly, Level 4 of VQF - Illustrative image

According to the regulation on the minimum knowledge volume and required competencies for graduates from intermediate and college levels in mechanical equipment assembly issued together with Circular 47/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, the minimum skills required for graduates of Mechanical equipment assembly, Level 4 of VQF in Vietnam are specified as follows:

- Be able to apply safety standard content in the industrial environment;

- Be able to read details, information displayed on detailed drawings and assembly drawings;

- Be able to check the quality of mechanical products regarding dimensions and geometric shapes as required;

- Be able to assemble some simple electrical circuit models, connect the electrical system equipped on metal cutting machines;

- Be able to distinguish some metals and alloys, steel and cast iron, nonferrous metals and their alloys;

- Be able to perform some methods of heat treatment and chemical heat treatment of steel;

- Be able to check material mechanical properties such as tensile strength, bending strength, hardness, and impact toughness of steel materials;

- Be able to apply mechanical processing methods using hand tools on actual products to meet technical requirements;

- Proficient in looking up tolerance tables, recording and reading tolerance values of dimensions, and geometric shapes of mechanical details on manufacturing and assembly drawings;

- Correctly use measurement tools, basic inspection tools in mechanical engineering such as leaf rulers, tape measures, calipers, micrometers, profile inspection templates;

- Be able to measure electrical quantities as required by the job;

- Be able to install simple motor control circuits applied on metal cutting machines;

- Be able to assemble, disassemble, and maintain machine assemblies such as mechanical transmission systems and basic machine details;

- Be able to calculate, select lifting slings, hooks, signal flagging, and hanging goods;

- Be able to operate simple lifting equipment such as jacks, winches, chain hoists, pulley systems, and operate workshop cranes;

- Be able to mark, cut, grind, and assemble metal structures by welding into simple mechanical assemblies and jigs to support the installation process from sheet steel and shaped steel such as making types of shims to move mechanical structures;

- Be able to install conveyor frames, supporting rollers, drums, drive units, belts... and test run the conveyor system;

- Be able to install suction hoppers, support brackets, filtration systems, ventilation systems, directional change systems... and test run the ventilation system;

- Be able to install industrial pump systems such as pumps, fire piping systems, fluid piping systems in high-rise buildings and on ships...;

- Be able to use basic information technology according to regulations, exploit, process, and apply information technology in specialized work in the industry;

- Be able to use basic foreign language skills, achieving level 1/6 in the Vietnam's Foreign Language Proficiency Framework; applying foreign language in specialized work in the industry.
