Vietnam: Preferential treatment given to Heroes of People’s Armed Forces

According to the Ordinance on preferential treatment given to people with meritorious services to the revolution 2005 of Vietnam, persons awarded the “Anh hùng Lực lượng vũ trang nhân dân” title or the “Anh hùng Lao động” title entitled to preferential treatment specified herein include:

- Persons awarded the “Anh hùng Lực lượng vũ trang nhân dân” title by the State as per law provisions;

- Persons awarded the “Anh hùng Lao động” title for outstanding achievements in labor and production serving resistance wars.

Preferential treatment given to persons awarded the “Anh hùng Lực lượng vũ trang nhân dân” title and the “Anh hùng Lao động” title includes:

- Provision of monthly benefits;

- Provision of health insurance; treatment and recovery of health; provision of necessary aid devices and orthopedic instruments;

- Priority in student enrollment and job creation and preferential treatment in education and training;

- Priority in allocation or lease of land, water surface, sea water surface, grant of concessional loans; assistance in housing renovation depending on specific circumstance of each person and capacity of the local government authority and the State; if such persons die, the person arranging their funeral ceremony shall receive an amount of benefit and reimbursement for funeral expenses.

Moreover:

- The relatives of persons awarded the “Anh hùng Lực lượng vũ trang nhân dân” title or the “Anh hùng Lao động” title died before January 01, 1955 shall receive one off benefits.

- Children of the aforesaid persons shall be given priority in student enrollment and job creation and preferential treatment in education and training.
