Vietnam: Preferential regime for relatives of people with meritorious services to the revolution from July 01, 2021

According to Article 5 of the Ordinance on preferential treatment given to people with meritorious services to the revolution 2020 of Vietnam, depending on each subject, people with meritorious services to the revolution and relatives of people with meritorious services to the revolution are entitled to the following main preferential regimes:

- Monthly subsidy, monthly allowance, one-time subsidy;

- Other preferential regimes include:

+ Health Insurance;

+ Health rehabilitation nursing;

+ Provided with necessary assistive devices, orthopedic tools, means and equipment for rehabilitation as specified by orthopedic and rehabilitation establishments in the labor - invalids and social affairs sector or provincial hospitals higher; (new provision)

+ Priority in enrollment and job creation;

+ Support to study up to university level at educational institutions under the national education system; (new provision)

+ Support for housing improvement based on merits and circumstances of each person or when having housing difficulties;

+ Exemption or reduction of land use levy when being allocated residential land by the State, changing the land use purpose to residential land, recognizing the right to use residential land, when purchasing houses owned by the State; (new provision)

+ Prioritize allocation or lease of land, water surface, sea surface; prioritize forest protection and development contracts; (new provision)

+ Preferential loans for production and business; (new provision)

+ Tax exemption or reduction as prescribed by law. (new provision)

Thus, according to the above provisions, it can be seen that the Ordinance on preferential treatment given to people with meritorious services to the revolution 2020 of Vietnam has added many preferential regimes for relatives of people with meritorious services to the revolution compared to the current regulations of the Ordinance on preferential treatment given to people with meritorious services to the revolution amended in 2012. Therefore, from July 01, 2021, relatives of people with meritorious services to the revolution will enjoy more incentives. However, it should be noted that not all subjects who are relatives of people with meritorious services to the revolution are entitled to all the above-mentioned preferential regimes as prescribed.
