The Ministry of Health of Vietnam issued Circular No. 23/2017/TT-BYT on May 15, 2017, which specifies periodic health check-ups for children according to age.
According to Circular No. 23/2017/TT-BYT of the Ministry of Health of Vietnam, periodic health check-ups for children are general examination and health check once a year for children from birth to under 16 years old to detect diseases and risks of disease early for appropriate consultation, management or treatment.
Children from birth to before entering preschool and children under 6 years old who do not go to school are given regular health checks at commune, ward, town health stations and the equivalent (hereinafter referred to as Commune Health Station) on the following contents:
- Measure length, height, and weight to evaluate physical development;
- Comprehensive examination to evaluate mental and motor development, detect diseases and unusual signs, and risk of disease;
- Check scheduled vaccinations and vaccinations in the Expanded Immunization Program for unvaccinated children who need them;
- Conclusion about health status, consultation and transfer to appropriate medical facility if illness or unusual signs or risks of disease are detected.
Children from 7 to under 16 years old who do not go to school are given regular health checks at the Commune Health Station according to the content recorded in the Health Management Document.
Children who are students from preschool to middle school are given health checks and periodic health checks according to regulations on school health work.
