Vietnam: Lottery sales promotion is prohibited in any forms

According to Decree No. 30/2007/NĐ-CP of Vietnam’s Government, information, advertisement and sales promotion of lotteries are specified as follows:

1. Information principles, details and places for information publicization

Lottery-related information must be accurate and prompt and supplied by a competent organization or individual. A lottery business enterprise shall take responsibility for the accuracy and truthfulness of the publicized information.

Information details include:

- State regulations on lottery business.

- Rules for lottery participation; rules for lottery draw.

- Number of issued tickets, serial numbers and codes of issued tickets, and structure of prizes.

- Lottery prize-winning results.

Lottery-related information shall be publicized at lottery business enterprises' head offices, branches or representative offices, or places of lottery ticket issuance. Information on lottery results may be publicized on the radio, television or in other mass media.

2. Advertisement for lottery

- Lottery business enterprises shall advertise lottery in accordance with law.

- The following acts of advertising are prohibited: making advertisement that winning is a certainty for lottery participants; making advertisement that lottery participation will improve the financial situation of participants; using images which infringe upon fine customs and habits and cultural traditions of the nation; provoking law-breaking acts in lottery business; other acts as provided for by law.

3. Lottery sales promotion

Lottery sales promotion is prohibited in any forms.
