On December 28, 2018, the Vietnam Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs issued Circular 52/2018/TT-BLDTBXH regulating the minimum knowledge volume and competency requirements for graduates from intermediate and college programs in the fields of agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and veterinary medicine.

In the regulation of the minimum knowledge volume and competency requirements for graduates from intermediate and college programs in the freshwater aquaculture major issued together with Circular 52/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, graduates of intermediate-level freshwater aquaculture major in Vietnam must have competencies to meet the job requirements in the following positions:
- Freshwater fish breeding;
- Freshwater commercial fish farming;
- Coldwater commercial fish farming;
- Commercial farming of some freshwater aquatic specialties;
- Prevention and treatment of freshwater aquatic animal diseases;
- Consultancy and supply of materials and products for aquaculture.
Additionally, there are regulations concerning the capability of learners to further their studies and enhance their qualifications as follows:
- The minimum knowledge volume and competency requirements for graduates of the intermediate-level freshwater aquaculture major allow them to continue to develop at higher levels;
- After graduation, learners must have the capability for self-study and self-update of scientific and technological advancements within the scope of the field to enhance their qualifications or pursue bridging programs to higher levels within the same major, group of majors, or related training majors.
