Recently, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Vietnam issued Circular 23/2019/TT-BLDTBXH promulgating regulations on the minimum knowledge volume and competency requirements for graduates at the intermediate level and college level in disciplines and professions related to production, processing, and agriculture.

Under Circular 23/2019/TT-BLDTBXH, college-level crop science is a discipline or profession of study that applies research to the technical processes of cultivating various crops and the factors affecting the growth and development of plants, intending to create high-value products that meet market demands and corresponds to Level 5 in the Vietnamese Qualifications Framework. The primary tasks of the profession include producing plant varieties, growing, caring for, protecting, harvesting, preliminary processing, preserving, and transferring scientific and technological advances...
Professionals in Crop Science can work in households, farms, agricultural cooperatives, administrative units, research organizations, seed companies, businesses, experimental research centers, service centers, or any organizations engaged in the field of crop science.
Specifically, graduates from college-level crop science in Vietnam will have the capacity to meet the requirements of job positions within the following disciplines and professions:
- Crop production;
- Fertilizer application;
- Crop cultivation;
- Plant protection;
- Harvesting, preliminary processing, and preservation of agricultural products;
- Transfer of scientific and technological advancements.
In addition, the minimum knowledge and competency requirements for graduates from college-level crop science in Vietnam can be developed further at higher levels. Graduates will be able to self-study and self-update scientific and technological advancements within the discipline and profession to enhance their skills or to pursue higher education levels in the same discipline and profession or within a related discipline and profession.
