This is one of the important contents regulated in Circular 26/2016/TT-BTNMT of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Vietnam detailing the criteria for classifying regions at risk of marine and island environmental pollution and providing guidance on zoning areas at risk of marine and island environmental pollution.
According to the provisions of Circular 26/2016/TT-BTNMT of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Vietnam, the weight for calculating the environmental risk factor for pollutants or pollution factors is stipulated in the following table:
No | Pollutant or Pollution Factor | Weight |
1 | Toxic Substances | 2.0 |
- | Heavy metals, especially in carbon compounds (arsenic, cadmium, cobalt, copper, lead, mercury, magnesium, tin, selenium, zinc, uranium) | 2.0 |
- | Industrial waste containing polychlorinated biphenyls | 2.0 |
- | Toxic carbon-based compounds, herbicides, pesticides | 2.0 |
2 | Nutrient Pollutants or Pollution Factors | 1.7 |
- | NH4^+^, NO3^-^, NO2^-^, total P, pH, chlorophyll, conductivity, and turbidity | 1.7 |
3 | Oxygen Depleting Substances or Factors in Seawater | 1.5 |
- | BOD, COD, DO | 1.5 |
- | Carbon-based wastes, dissolved carbon materials | 1.5 |
- | Temperature of wastewater discharged into the marine environment | 1.5 |
4 | Pathogenic Bacteria, Viruses, Alien Species | 1.3 |
5 | Floating Waste | 1.1 |
6 | Noise and Other Substances or Factors | 1.0 |
Relevant provisions can be found in Circular 26/2016/TT-BTNMT, effective from November 15, 2016.
