Recently, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Vietnam issued Circular No. 46/2018/TT-BLDTBXH stipulating the minimum knowledge requirements and competency requirements that learners must achieve upon graduation from the intermediate and college levels for professions in the fields of materials, metallurgy, manufacturing, and other technical fields.

According to the regulation on the minimum volume of knowledge and competency requirements that learners must achieve upon graduation from intermediate-level and college-level programs in the field of thermal engineering technology, issued in conjunction with Circular 46/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, intermediate-level thermal engineering technology involves performing tasks such as installing, operating, maintaining, servicing, and repairing thermal equipment according to technical requirements as per design, ensuring safety standards, and meeting level 4 requirements in the Vietnam National Qualifications Framework.
Individuals with intermediate professional qualifications in thermal engineering technology often take on positions such as technicians in installation, maintenance, operation, and repair; sales consultants, technical consultants in fields such as: residential and commercial refrigeration, industrial refrigeration, air conditioning, and related industries. Additionally, graduates can also hold positions such as facility management staff, specialized equipment manufacturing, production, and sales.
The jobs in this field are primarily performed in non-fixed working environments, involving frequent travel and work in places where there is dust, noise, temperature changes, inadequate lighting, and heights. Therefore, to practice the profession, workers must have good health, professional ethics, adequate specialized knowledge, and professional skills suited to the job position.
The minimum volume of knowledge is 1,400 hours (equivalent to 50 credits).
