Effective from February 10, 2019, Circular 46/2018/TT-BLDTBXH issued by the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs of Vietnam governs the minimum knowledge volume and competency requirements that learners must achieve upon graduation from intermediate and college levels in fields of materials, metallurgy, production, and other technical engineering disciplines.

In the regulation on the minimum volume of knowledge, the competency requirements that learners must achieve upon graduation at the intermediate level, college level for the automotive technology occupation, issued along with Circular 46/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, it stipulates that automotive technology at the intermediate level is an integrative field encompassing knowledge from various technical sciences such as: mechanics, mechanical engineering, electrical - electronics, automation, informatics, safety, etc., meeting the level 4 requirements in the Vietnam National Qualifications Framework.
The field of Automotive Technology primarily addresses four fundamental issues: design, manufacture, operation, maintenance, and repair. Graduates can take on roles such as maintenance, repair; manufacturing, production; management, business; training in the field of automobiles and specialized vehicles.
Minimum knowledge volume: 1,650 hours (equivalent to 57 credits).
Additionally, upon graduation, learners have the capacity to meet the requirements for various job positions within the automotive field, including:
- Automotive care and beautification;
- Management of automotive materials and spare parts;
- Production of spare parts and assembly in the automotive sector;
- Business in the field of automobiles and automotive spare parts;
- Engine (machine) repair;
- Chassis repair;
- Electrical and air conditioning repair for automobiles;
- Service consulting in the automotive field.
