Recently, the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam issued Circular 132/2012/TT-BQP promulgating internal regulations of military prisons.

In Articles 8, 9, and 10 of the internal regulations of military prisons issued with Circular 132/2012/TT-BQP, inmates in military prisons in Vietnam must comply with some personal conduct requirements, including:
Regarding personal items and belongings:
- Inmates are only allowed to bring into the prison cell clothes, blankets, mosquito nets, mats, towels, sandals provided by the prison, and personal hygiene items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, plastic cups, plastic combs, prescription glasses with plastic frames, medication as prescribed or permitted by the prison medical staff, female hygiene products (if the inmate is female), living necessities for children (if there are children under 36 months old staying with their mother in the prison), and a bag for storing items as regulated; personal belongings must be neatly and tidily arranged.
- Valuables such as gold, silver, precious metals, gemstones, foreign currency, cash, stocks, bonds, watches, valuable jewelry, technical or electronic devices (except health support devices as prescribed by a doctor); ID cards, armed forces ID cards, household registration books, passports, profession certificates, various cards, degrees, certificates, and other valuable documents or properties; unused personal clothes and belongings must be sent to the prison for safekeeping or sent to the family; medication must be handed over to the prison medical staff for management.
Regarding clothes and stamping clothes:
- Inmates are only allowed to wear clothes provided by the prison. The clothes used by inmates must be stamped (except for underwear and sleeveless vests). The "inmate" stamp is placed in the front of the pants and on the back of the shirt. On the left chest of the shirt, stamp the "name and the last 7 digits of the inmate file number". When studying, participating in collective activities, working, entering or exiting the prison gate, meeting relatives, or interacting with outsiders, inmates must wear long clothes provided by the prison.
- Inmates are prohibited from lending, erasing, writing, drawing, printing on, or altering the style of clothes provided by the prison.
In the dining hall, during labor, study, and vocational training:
- At the designated time, inmates are allowed to receive their food ration and must eat within the designated time and place.
- Inmates must work and train at the designated locations of the prison, strictly adhere to labor discipline, and actively work, and study vocational skills under the guidance of prison officers. Inmates are allowed to rest when sick if verified by the prison medical staff or a qualified medical facility.
- Inmates are prohibited from throwing, discarding, and littering food and beverages in the prison dining hall; consuming alcoholic beverages at all times and places; hiring or forcing other inmates to serve or do their work or obstructing the labor or vocational training of other inmates in any form.
