Vietnam: In what cases do learners have to study and retake the training course for teachers at intermediate and college level?

Recently, the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam has issued the Circular No. 24/2019/TT-BGDĐT on Regulations on training at intermediate and college level in teacher training majors.

According to Circular No. 24/2019/TT-BGDĐT of the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam, she study and re-examination of learners in the teacher training at intermediate and college level are prescribed as follows:

- Learners must study and retake the unsatisfactory subject or module if they fall into one of the following cases: Not eligible to take the exam or have exhausted the number of times to take the exam at the end of the subject or module, but the subject or module score is not satisfactory;

- The head of the teacher training institution shall specify the re-learning when the learners do not attend 80% of the time in class;

- Learners who are required to re-study and retake the exam are not entitled to have their scores, study time and previous study period preserved, and must satisfy the exam conditions specified in Clause 1 of this Article before taking the final exam of the subject or module;

- In case there is no longer a subject or module due to the adjustment of the teacher training program, the head of the teacher training institution shall decide to choose another subject or module to replace it on the basis of being consistent with the objectives of the specific teacher training sector;

- Learners have the right to re-register and retake exams for subjects and modules to improve their overall GPA.

Learners may take the final exam of the subject or module when the following conditions are satisfied:

- Attend at least 80% of the time in class, enough integrated lessons, practical lessons, practice, internship, requirements of subjects and modules and have enough scores on regular and periodical tests specified in the subject program or module;

- The overall average score of regular and periodical test points is not less than 4.0 points on a 10-point scale;

- Learners who have a certificate of disability as prescribed shall be considered and decided by the head of the teacher training institution to give priority to exam conditions on the basis that such learner must satisfy the conditions for the average score of the test scores.

Specifically, the number of times to take the final exam of the subject and module is prescribed as follows:

- Learners are allowed to take the exam at the end of the first subject or module, if the subject or module scores are not satisfactory, they may take the exam again in another exam organized by the head of the teacher training institution;

- Learners who are absent from any exam without a valid reason will still count the number of attempts and must receive a score of 0 (zero) for that test, if there is a valid reason, the number of times to take the exam will not be counted and the head of the teacher training institution will arrange to take another exam.
