Street food today holds a significant advantage in the dietary needs of the public. Thanks to its convenience, affordable prices, and the diversity and appeal from food to beverages that match the preferences of consumers, it has gradually become an essential part of people's lives. To meet this eating demand, increasingly more street vendors are emerging, and many people are choosing this type of street food business to quickly earn an income.
However, being street food with a trend of freedom and the lack of stringent management regarding business licenses or inspection of food safety and hygiene, many business owners have bypassed the minimum rules in ensuring safety and hygiene from the stages of preliminary processing, cooking to food display. Consequently, it is not rare for food poisoning cases to occur, posing dangers to the health and life of consumers.
To prevent and limit violations in street food business activities, Decree 178/2013/ND-CP of Vietnam's Government outlines corresponding penalties for violations that business owners need to be aware of to avoid infractions as follows:
In addition to the above penalties, violators are also required to destroy ingredients and food additives without origin, expired, spoiled, or rotten. In cases causing food poisoning to consumers, they must bear all costs for handling the food poisoning, examination, and treatment of the affected individuals.
