Vietnam: How does the grassroots trade union participate in resolving labor disputes?

On April 15, 2014, the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam issued Circular No. 14/2014/TT-BQP on the rights and responsibilities of the trade union in representing and protecting the legitimate and rights and interests of members, employees, workers, and participating in the management of agencies, units, and enterprises in the military.

According to Circular No. 14/2014/TT-BQP of the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam, the grassroots trade union in military enterprises has the right to participate in resolving labor disputes with competent authorities, organizations, and individuals, specifically as follows:

- The grassroots trade union has the right to request that the labor conciliator, labor arbitration council, labor management agency, and the head of the enterprise resolve collective labor disputes in accordance with the prescribed procedures and processes.

- Provide guidance and support to workers in resolving individual labor disputes upon the worker's request; represent the worker in participating in the process of resolving individual labor disputes when authorized by the worker; appoint a representative to participate in meetings to resolve individual labor disputes as requested by the labor conciliator.
