Ms. Tran Thi Tinh, from Co Noi commune, Mai Son district, Son La province, asked: I heard that the Ministry of Health of Vietnam has recently issued new regulations on the prices for medical examination and treatment services covered by health insurance among hospitals of the same class across the country. Please provide specific details on how this issue is regulated.
Answer: The issue you inquired about is regulated in Clause 1 Article 2 (Appendix 1 attached thereto) of Circular No. 15/2018/TT-BYT dated May 30, 2018 of the Ministry of Health of Vietnam unifying prices for medical examination and treatment services covered by health insurance among hospitals of the same class across the country and providing guidelines for applying prices and payment for medical services in certain cases, which takes effect from July 15, 2018.
According to this Circular, the price for medical examination services at specially-classed hospitals and Class I hospitals is reduced to 33,100 dong/time; currently, this price is 39,000 dong/time. Similarly, the price for medical examination services at Class II hospitals is 29,600 dong/time instead of 35,000 dong/time. The price for medical examination services at Class III hospitals is 26,200 dong/time. The price for medical examination services at Class IV hospitals is also reduced from 29,000 dong/time to 23,300 dong/time.
Prices for radiography, CT scanner and ultrasound are also reduced. Thus, from July 15, 2018 onwards, when you come for medical examination at healthcare facilities, the pricing for medical examination services covered by health insurance will be applied according to the new regulations mentioned above.
