Vietnam: How are intermediate-level and college-level train operation?

Recently, the Ministry of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Vietnam issued Circular No. 50/2018/TT-BLDTBXH regulating the minimum knowledge requirements and competency that learners must achieve upon graduation from intermediate and college levels in the fields of mining engineering and other technical fields.

Specifically, Circular 50/2018/TT-BLDTBXH defines the railway train driver profession at the college level as a profession where practitioners directly drive the locomotives pulling passenger trains and cargo trains to meet the travel needs of passengers and the transportation of goods circulating on railway routes nationwide, meeting level 5 requirements in the Vietnam National Qualifications Framework. At the same time, the railway train driver profession at the intermediate level is a profession where practitioners directly drive the locomotives pulling passenger trains and cargo trains to meet the travel needs of passengers and the transportation of goods circulating on railway routes nationwide, meeting level 4 requirements in the Vietnam National Qualifications Framework.

Railway train drivers must strictly comply with the Railway Law, national technical regulations on train operation, national technical regulations on railway exploitation, national technical regulations on railway traffic signals, operational procedures for diesel locomotive drivers, and directives related to train operation, maintaining, and safeguarding locomotives to ensure safe and timely train operations.

Additionally, the minimum knowledge volume for the college-level railway train driver profession is 2,500 hours (equivalent to 90 credits). The minimum knowledge volume for the intermediate-level railway train driver profession is 1,700 hours (equivalent to 60 credits).
