Vietnam: Guidance on health care and nutrition consultation for pregnant women and children

This is a content specified in Circular No. 23/2017/TT-BYT issued on May 15, 2017 by the Ministry of Health of Vietnam, prescribing health care and nutrition consultation for pregnant women and children.

According to Circular No. 23/2017/TT-BYT of the Ministry of Health of Vietnam, health care and nutrition counseling for pregnant women includes providing information on how to care for pregnant women's health and nutrition during each prenatal visit according to the content in the Prenatal Care and Counseling for Pregnant Women section.

Concurrently, Circular No. 23/2017/TT-BYT also stipulates that consulting on health care and nutrition for children: provide information and instructions for children and their parents or guardians on health care and nutrition during each periodic health check according to the following contents:

- For children from birth to 6 years old: Advise according to content appropriate to the child's age in the section on Instructions for periodic child health examinations specified in the National Guidelines on Reproductive Health;

- For children from 7 years old to under 16 years old: Advise issues related to school illnesses; advise and guide how to take care of reproductive health according to the content in the section on Adolescent Reproductive Health Care specified in the National Guidelines on Reproductive Health; advise on a balanced and reasonable nutritional regimen according to current guidelines of the Institute of Nutrition.
