Vietnam: General introduction to Fibre technology, Level 4 of VQF

On December 28, 2018, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Vietnam issued Circular 46/2018/TT-BLD-TBXH on the minimum knowledge volume and required competencies for graduates from intermediate (Level 4 of VQF) and college (Level 5 of VQF) levels in materials, metallurgy, production, and other technical technologies.

According to the regulation on the minimum knowledge volume and required competencies for graduates from intermediate and college levels in Fibre technology issued together with Circular 46/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, Fibre technology, Level 4 of VQF in Vietnam is a profession producing fabrics and selling products for garment, fashion, and some other industries, meeting the requirements for level 4 in the National Qualifications Framework of Vietnam.

Fibre technology requires raw materials such as fibers, yarns, chemicals, and many machinery and equipment such as winding machines, warping machines, sizing machines, weaving machines, and devices for fabric measuring, folding and inspection, air conditioning, and labor safety equipment... to produce the final product. Each stage requires specific machinery and equipment to serve the production process; the entire production process passes through several stages called the fabric production line.

Fibre technology has a working environment with high noise levels, and a lot of fiber dust, and some stages are affected by chemicals, so workers must be in good health, have a suitable appearance, have good professional ethics, and sufficient professional knowledge and skills to meet job requirements. Additionally, they need to constantly learn to improve foreign language communication skills, expand social knowledge, practice carefulness, detail orientation, and clarity; and build a sense of professional responsibility.

Graduates of Fibre technology in Vietnam can take on positions such as product design, technical management of each stage in the production line, direct operation of equipment to produce products; promotion, advertising, consulting, and trading of fabric products.

Note: the minimum knowledge volume is 1,630 hours (equivalent to 56 credits).
