On April 15th, 2024, the Minister of Education and Training issued Decision 1139/QD-BGDDT on the implementation plan for university admissions and admissions to pedagogical colleges in the field of preschool education in 2024.
The timeline for university admissions in 2024 that candidates need to take note of is as follows:
- Candidates register their options for admission on the Ministry's centralized system from July 18th, 2024, and can adjust their options, with no limit on the number of times, until 5:00 PM on July 30th, 2024.
- For universities that conduct early admissions, the timeline for admissions and announcement of results to candidates for registration on the system and updating the list of qualified candidates (except for high school graduation requirements) through the early admissions method on the system (first round of admissions) is no later than 5:00 PM on July 10th, 2024.
- From July 31st, 2024, to 5:00 PM on August 6th, 2024, candidates pay the admission fee online.
- No later than July 21st, the Ministry of Education and Training will announce the minimum qualifying score (threshold score) for the health and pedagogy sectors and process candidates' admission preferences from August 13th, 2024, to 5:00 PM on August 17th, 2024.
- Before 5:00 PM on August 19th, 2024, universities must announce the admission cutoff scores and notify the candidates who are accepted in the first round.
- By 5:00 PM on August 27th, 2024, candidates must complete the online enrollment confirmation.

Eligibility requirements for examination:
(i)) Students who have finished the high school program in the year of exam must also meet the requirements that in 12th grade their conduct must be classified as Average and above and academic performance must not be classified as Poor. The classification of conduct is not required for continuing education learners in guided self-study mode and learners with no requirements of conduct classification;
(ii) Those who had finished the high school program but have yet taken or did not pass the high school graduation exams of previous years must obtain lower secondary graduation diplomas and also meet the requirements that in 12th grade their conduct must be classified as Average and above and academic performance must not be classified as Poor.
A person who was disqualified from the previous year’s high school graduation exam due to poor academic performance in grade 12 must take the final exam for any subjects with GPA below 5.0 (at the school in which they were in 12th grade or at the school registered for the exam) and the new GPA meets academic performance requirement as prescribed. A person who was disqualified from the previous year’s high school graduation exam due to poor conduct in grade 12 must obtain the confirmation of their compliance with local regulations and legal policies from the commune-level People’s Committee so that the high school where they were in grade 12 confirms their eligibility in terms of conduct according to regulations;
- Candidates who have graduated post-secondary schools must have studied and passed a given number of high school academic subjects as per the Education Law and its existing guiding documents of the MOET;
- Candidates must register for the exam and submit all required documents in due time.
