Vietnam: Criteria for consideration for awarding the "People's Teacher" title

Under Article 62 of the Draft Law on Amendments to Law on Emulation and Commendation 2019, the criteria for consideration for awarding the "People's Teacher" title in Vietnam are specified as follows:

- Being loyal to the socialist Fatherland of Vietnam;

- Possessing good ethical qualities, having devoted themselves to their profession and loved pupils, possessing excellent pedagogical talents, having made great contributions to the education sector, a widespread influence in the sector and the entire society, and being respected by pupils, colleagues and people;

- Having personally engaged in teaching or lecturing activities for 20 years or more; for education administrators, having worked in the sector for 25 years or more, including 15 years of being personally engaged in teaching or lecturing activities.

Thus, this Draft specifically stipulates the criteria for consideration for awarding the "People's Teacher" title in Vietnam. The "People's Teacher" title is conferred on individuals who have been awarded the "Teacher of Merit" title for at least 5 years.
