Under Article 64 of the Draft Law on Amendments to Law on Emulation and Commendation 2019, the criteria for consideration for awarding the "People's Artist" title in Vietnam are specified as follows:
- Being loyal to the socialist Fatherland of Vietnam;
- Possessing good ethical qualities, excellent artistic talents, having made many contributions to the Vietnamese revolutionary cause, and being admired by colleagues and people;
- Having engaged in art activities for 20 years or more, or 15 years or more, for the art of circus or dance; having won many prizes in domestic or overseas art festivals, contests and shows.
- Having further won many prizes in domestic or overseas art festivals, contests and shows after being conferred the “Artist of Merit” title.
Thus, this Draft sets forth the criteria for consideration for awarding the "People's Artist" title in Vietnam. The "People's Artist" title in Vietnam is considered for individuals who have been awarded the “Artist of Merit” title for 5 years or more.
