Vietnam: Contents of the development of digital author copy

This is one of the important contents stipulated in Circular 47/2014/TT-BTNMT on technical regulations on administrative maps of all levels in Vietnam, promulgated on August 22, 2014.

In Article 19 of Circular 47/2014/TT-BTNMT, the development of digital author copy in Vietnam consists of:

- Document preparation.

- Mathematical basis development.

- Content editing.

- On-site inspection.

- Inspection result update.

- Digital author copy standardization.

Where:

Document preparation is specified as follows:

- Study technical editing and relevant documents.

- Prepare documents, database, and software required.

- Copy standard files to the correct folders.

- Create backup folders.

Content editing is specified as follows:

- Contents of the map must be edited to meet the correct format and layer in administrative maps according to selected technologies in science editing outline.

- Choose, brief, and present elements of administrative maps in order to meet criteria under Articles 26, 27, 28, and 29 of this Circular depending on the type of administrative map.

- Perform inkjet printing serving on-site inspection.

On-site inspection consists of:

- Verify and amend elements of the map according to real life.

- Add new real life elements to the map.

- Collect documents, maps, legislative documents to accommodate internal update and editing.

Inspection result update is specified as follows:

- Transfer on-site inspection results and other locally collected documents to digital author copy.

- All update must:

+ Ensure accuracy of the map;

+ Ensure authenticity and adequacy according to physical inspection results;

+ Ensure consistency with elements available on the map.

Standardization of digital author copy in Vietnam is specified as follows:

- Present map elements as per the law and ensure that:

+ Positioning relativity and separation between elements on the map. The translation of elements complies with the principle that elements with a lower accuracy adhere to elements with a higher accuracy;

+ Notes must be presented in a manner that adheres to geographical features to which the notes are added.

- Present other elements: Secondary maps; area and population legends; legends and other contents.
