Vietnam: Conditions for issuance of radiation worker certificates

The Law on Atomic Energy 2008 was approved by the 12th National Assembly of Vietnam at its 3rd session on June 03, 2008, which provides for activities in the domain of atomic energy and the assurance of safety and security in these activities.

According to the Law on Atomic Energy 2008 of Vietnam, persons who fully satisfy the following conditions will be granted radiation worker certificates:

- Having the full civil act capacity;

- Having appropriate professional qualifications and knowledge about safety;

- Submitting a complete application and fee as prescribed. In which profile information must be accurate; diplomas, certificates or other papers with a specified time limit that must be valid during the application processing time; documents in foreign languages must be translated into Vietnamese; copies or translations must be notarized or certified by the organization applying for the license.

In particular, certificate holders shall constantly update relevant knowledge.

The following persons must have radiation worker certificates:

- Chief engineers of nuclear reactors;

- Heads of operation shifts of nuclear reactors;

- Safety officers;

- Persons in charge of radioactive decontamination;

- Persons in charge of response to radiation incidents and nuclear incidents;

- Persons managing nuclear fuel;

- Operators of nuclear reactors:

- Operators of accelerators:

- Operators of irradiation equipment using radioactive sources;

- Producers of radioisotopes;

- Photographers of industrial radioactivity.
