On October 27, 2015, the Ministry of Health of Vietnam issued the Circular No. 33/2015/TT-BYT providing guidelines for functions and duties of commune-level healthcare stations.
Specifically, according to the Circular No. 33/2015/TT-BYT of the Ministry of Health of Vietnam, commune-level healthcare stations shall provide professional and operational guidelines for village health workers as follows:
- Propose recruitment and management of village health workers to healthcare centers of districts (hereinafter referred to as “district-level healthcare centers”);
- Give guidelines on specialized tasks for village health workers providing primary healthcare and village midwives as per the law;
- Organize periodical briefings and participate in professional training and refresher courses for village health workers according to their levels.
Besides, commune-level healthcare stations shall cooperate with relevant regulatory bodies in population and family planning; provide family planning services according to their level of specialty and regulations of laws; inspect private healthcare practice and pharmacy practice and services that might affect people’s health:
- Participate and cooperate with competent authorities in inspecting private healthcare practice and pharmacy practice and services that might affect the health of people in their communes;
- Detect and report illegal healthcare activities, establishments and individuals providing products and services not meeting requirements on food safety or healthcare environment in their communes to authorities.
